Terms of Service ("Terms")
This document contains our Terms of Service, which detail the expectations we have of you, the expectations you can have of us, and the agreement that operates between you and us. In this document, “you” and “your” refers to you as an individual, or a company or other legal entity acting on your behalf, and “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Beacon Social Impact, LLC, based in Arizona.
This document was last updated on December 5, 2022.
Acknowledgement
You are expected to comply with these terms in their entirety while using our services. You also agree that our Privacy Policy (within this document) applies to your use of our service. Finally, you are expected to abide by all laws governing your jurisdiction while using our service. This includes warranting that you are not located in a country subject to United States government embargo or designated by the United States government as a "terrorist supporting" country.
Your use of our service is conditioned on your compliance with these expectations. You do not have permission to use our service if you do not agree to, or do not comply with, these terms, policies, or laws.
Our service
“Our service” refers to this internet search website, which is owned and operated by Beacon Social Impact, LLC, based in Tucson, Arizona. We made our service available in order to provide a basic search experience that:
● Provides simple results
● Does not "blend in" advertising
● Stays grounded in privacy
Features and functionality developed by us are our exclusive property and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws of both the United States of America.and foreign countries. You may not use our brand or trademarks without prior written consent.
Our service is powered by Microsoft Bing (though we are in no way affiliated with Microsoft) and our usage and your usage are both therefore subject to their terms and policies
Your use of our service
Your actions
The actions you may take while using our service are: Submitting text (as in a search query) and interacting with search results (such as clicking on a link or image). You may not undertake any other action while using our service (such as copying content) and are expected at all times to respect standard usage restrictions explicitly specified by owners of third party websites.
In addition, you are not permitted to transmit, or to induce transmission of, content that is harmful, obscene, threatening, unlawful (or that promotes unlawful activity), offensive, or otherwise objectionable. Objectionable content includes, but is not limited to, content that is:
● discriminatory or mean-spirited, including commentary on any protected group;
● machine generated, unauthorized, or unsolicited (as in advertising and spam);
● contains or installs viruses, worms, malware, trojan horses, or other content intended to obtain unauthorized access to or alter the function of data, software, or hardware;
● impersonates or infringes on someone’s rights (including but not limited to patent, trademark, trade secret, copyright, and right of publicity);
● defames, slanders, libels, or violates someone’s privacy.
Your privacy (“Privacy Policy”)
We do not monitor, track, or store any of your activity or information at an individual level. We do see aggregated and anonymized usage metrics (for instance, we can see the number of users that have visited our site, and we can see the most common search terms that a population is entering into our search box, but we cannot associate this data with any individual user).
As a result of this policy, no history of user-specific data or actions is available through our service, and we cannot backup, restore, or recall any content you specifically submitted or any specific set of search results you may wish to return to.
However, it is possible that accounts affiliated with you through third party services may be associated by those third parties with actions you perform, and with content you submit, on our service. An example of this may be an account you created on a third party service that uses cookies to associate your identity with your specific internet activity, including the things you search for and the websites you visit (such an action by that third party is beyond our purview). In those cases, we expect you to comply with the agreements you have made with all third parties with which you have an account.
Our service is powered by Microsoft Bing (though we are in no way affiliated with Microsoft) and your usage is therefore also subject to the Microsoft Bing Privacy Policy .
Third party content
Our service is designed to show links to - and limited text, image, and video previews of - content found on third party websites, applications, and services. These “search results'' are algorithmically-generated in response to the search terms and interactions (such as clicking an image) that you submit to our service. Therefore, because you are solely responsible for what you search for and click on, you are also solely responsible for the content you encounter, interact with, and eventually choose to visit.
Furthermore, all content previews are of content generated by third parties and not by us. We do take measures to help ensure that anything shown on our service is appropriate and safe (for instance, “Safe search” is turned on by default on our service), but we ultimately cannot control the nature of the content you have searched for. By using our service, you understand you may therefore encounter content that you do not wish to see, and you agree to use our service at your own risk and agree that we are not liable for any problematic content.
When you click on a link (which can be of text, image, video, or another content type), you leave our service and are taken to the corresponding third party property. At that point, you are no longer considered to be using our service. We have no control over the content, policies, or practices of any third party property, and we are not responsible or liable for any activity that occurs, experiences you have, damages, losses, or harms caused by you choosing to visit those properties.
Your guiding principle
Above all, it is your responsibility to understand what you are searching for and what you are clicking on when you use our service. You should not search for anything that makes you uncomfortable or click any link if you do not feel comfortable visiting the third party property that it links to. You also agree to mitigate your own risk by complying with the above section called “Your actions.” You may also discontinue using our service at your discretion at any time.
